HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's outdoor track & field team is slotted 10th in the first in-season National Ratings Index release, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Tuesday evening. Haverford totaled 72.17 points in the latest rankings release to edge No. 11 Dubuque for a spot in the top 10.

The weekly rankings, first introduced during the 2011 campaign, use mathematical formulas to compile a team's standing using the current week's national qualifying lists as well as performance data from the previous season. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that identifies the squads that have the best potential of success at the NCAA Division III National Championships in May.

The Fords received strong opening performances at the distance night of the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday, as Greg Morgan's 14:30.12 time in the 5,000 meters joined Graham Peet's 30:06.59 and Ryan Herlihy's 30:35.21 10,000-meter times as scoring performances for Haverford in the ratings index. Peet was honored with Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week after posting the top 10,000-meter time in the conference this season as well as the seventh-fastest personal best in program history.

2019 indoor champion North Central (Ill.) is first in the initial weekly rankings, followed by Wisconsin-La Crosse, Mount Union, Rowan, Pomona-Pitzer, Wisconsin Eau-Claire, Redlands, Washington-St. Louis, and John Carroll. Haverford rounds out the top 10.

Haverford competes this week at the Bill Butler Invitational on the campus of West Chester University on Saturday. Action is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
