Main Line Invite results finds Fords among leaders

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The 2013 cross country season officially began for Haverford College's men on Thursday afternoon at the Main Line Invitational with the Fords getting outstanding results in their first meet, led by senior All-Americans Christopher Stadler and Avi Bregman who finished fourth and 14th, respectively.

Stadler trailed only a trio of Villanova University runners at the finish of the 4-mile Alumni Course on Haverford's campus. His time of 19 minutes, 26.42 seconds was 18 seconds faster than Stadler's time in the same event at the start of the 2012 season.

Bregman posted a time of 19:45.62 in registering his 14th-place finish, 11 spots and 22 seconds better than his results from the 2012 Main Line.

The next four Fords across the finish also accounted for improved performances compared to last season's start. Charlie Marquardt (24th, 20:07.17) knocked off 12 seconds, Sam Fujimori (30th, 20:23.95) was 23 seconds faster, Joel Christian (31st, 20:25.61) carved off 20 seconds and David Roza (34th, 20:28.39) trimmed 19 seconds from his 2012 invite results.

Thursday's winner from Villanova was Patrick Tiernan who finished with a time of 19:09.48 to out distance runner-up and teammate Jordan Williamsz by 12 seconds.

Next up on the schedule for the Fords is the Lehigh (Univ.) Paul Short Run on October 5.
