Marquardt Paces Men's Cross Country in Main Line Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's cross country team hosted the Main Line Invitational on the rainy Alumni Course on the campus of Haverford College on Thursday.

Six schools made the trip to Haverford to run in the event. Lehigh, Villanova, the University of Pennsylvania, Widener, Swarthmore and LaSalle all had representatives in race.

Ryan Mahalsky of Lehigh won the four-mile race with a time of 19:25.20.

Junior Charlie Marquardt ran the best time for Haverford (19:44.80) and finished in ninth place. He was the highest non-Division I runner and knocked off 23 seconds from his time in last year's Main Line event. Senior David Roza carved off 27 seconds from his time in the 2013 invite and tallied a 16th place finish (20:01.50). Senior Joel Christian was 30th with a time of 20:31.30. Sophomore Michael Brier was 27 seconds quicker than his 2013 pace and finished in the 34th position (20:35.30). Senior David Marsico ran 24 seconds faster than last years' time with a 21.15.60 and placed 65th.

The Fords will run in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Oct. 4.
