Gearinger Named CC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Full Centennial Conference Release 

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Dylan Gearinger of the No. 8 ranked Haverford Men's Cross Country team has been named the Centennial Conference cross country athlete of the week, the conference announced in a release on Monday afternoon. Gearinger led all Division III entrants with a time of 19:58.45 at the Main Line Invitational on the Haverford campus on Friday evening, setting a new personal record in the distance in his initial competitive action in the 2017 season. 

The Fords outpaced Swarthmore and Widener, scoring a near-perfect 16 points to 61 points for Swarthmore and 65 for Widener, capturing the event title.

Gearinger captured the 3,000 meter event title at the Centennial Conference indoor conference championships last season before taking the 10,000 meter crown at the outdoor championships, capping an impressive sophomore campaign. A second team All-Conference selection in cross country last season, Gearinger represented Haverford at the NCAA Championships and placed 10th at the 2016 Centennial Conference Championship. 

The Berwick, Pa. product and the Fords will now have a a full week off to prepare for the first 6K race of the season, the prestigious Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University on Friday, September 29.
