Dylan Gearinger Earns CC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week Honors

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College men's cross country junior Dylan Gearinger has been named the Centennial Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, garnering the plaudit on Monday afternoon after a stellar performance at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. on Friday morning. Gearinger was the top Division III finisher in the 8K Gold Race (41st overall, career-best 8K time of 24:17), helping Haverford take the top spot amongst all Division III teams en route to a 17th place overall finish.

Haverford outpaced No. 8 Amherst (25th), No. 13 Christopher Newport (27th), No. 15 Williams (32nd), No. 3 Johns Hopkins (35th), No. 17 Middlebury (36th) and No. 24 TCNJ (40th) in the process. The Fords also finished ahead of Division I programs such as American, Lehigh, Rutgers and Mississippi State.

Gearinger was also named to the award on September 18 after leading all Division III entrants with a time of 19:58.45 at the four-mile Main Line Invitational. With the bye week for the Fords a week ago, Gearinger has now captured the honor in each of the last two competitive race weeks for the Fords.

A second team All-Conference selection in cross country last season, Gearinger represented Haverford at the NCAA Championships and placed 10th at the 2016 Centennial Conference Championship. 

Haverford will now await its placement in the USTFCCCA Regional and National Rankings, which will be announced this Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
