HAVERFORD, Pa.  – Off the heels of a fourth-consecutive Centennial Conference Championship, the Haverford College men's cross country maintained its spot in the national rankings, taking sole posession of the No. 3 spot in the latest USTFCCCA national coaches' poll, the organization announced on Wednesday. The Fords are also the top-ranked squad in the Mideast region.

The Fords tallied 262 voting points, to take over sole ownership of the third spot in the national poll, a place Haverford shared with SUNY Geneseo in the last poll release two weeks ago. North Central (Ill.) finished first overall with all eight first place tallies while Wisconsin La-Crosse remained in the second spot. SUNY Geneseo was fourth while Pomona-Pitzer rounded out an unchanged top five. Amherst, Loras, RPI, Washington (Mo.) and MIT finished ranked sixth through 10th in the latest release.

Last Saturday, Haverford captured its 22nd overall Centennial Conference title in 25 seasons.  In rainy and wet conditions, Haverford dominated the 8K championship meet, with four runners crossing the finish line before the top finisher from Johns Hopkins. Henry Woods took the individual title with a time of 25:12.5, with Graham Peet following in second with a time of 25:15.3. Third place overall belonged to Ryan Herlihy, who crossed in 25:21.4 and Dylan Gearinger rounded out the top five with a time of 25:37.3. Haverford scored 21 points, easily outpacing the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins, who scored 54. Dickinson scored 79 to finish in third place. The 21 points is the best performance since the 2014 season, when the Fords also scored 21.

Centennial runner-up Johns Hopkins moved up two positions to the No. 12 spot, representing the only other nationally ranked squad from the Centennial Conference. The Blue Jays are second in the Mideast Region, while regional host and Centennial third-place squad Dickinson sits in fifth in the region, behind Carnegie Mellon and York (Pa.).

The Fords now take the No. 3 national ranking into the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships, which will be held on November 11 in Newville, Pa. at Big Spring High School. The men's 8K race, hosted by Dickinson, is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
