HAVERFORD, Pa. – The 2017 Centennial Conference winter academic honorees were announced on Tuesday, and Haverford junior Graham Peet was named the Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Peet, a Biology major from Vashon, Wash., adds the award to a multitude of honors this season, including USTFCCCA Division III Mideast Region Athlete of the Year.

The award is presented to a junior or senior member of the All-Centennial team with the highest cumulative grade point average.

Peet finished in 50th place at the NCAA Division III National Championships on Saturday, crossing in a time of 25:05.15 in his third consecutive trip to the national meet. Peet, in just his junior season, remains firmly on-track to become Haverford's 12th four-time NCAA national qualifier.

Peet picked up Mideast Region Athlete of the Year after becoming the 13th individual regional champion in program history, pacing the Mideast Regional field with a time of 25:22.9. In addition, Peet was a Centennial first team selection this season after taking home second team honors in each of his first two seasons on the Haverford campus. His second place overall finish in 25:13 sealed the honor this season. Peet was also named the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year in 2015.

The Fords finished with an eighth place performance at the national meet, the best mark for Haverford since the 2012 team finished in a tie for second place. The Fords have now placed within the top 20 at the national meet for the 25th straight season, a mark that dates back to the 1993 campaign.
