Mideast Regional Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's cross country team checks in at No. 25 in the week three release of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) Poll, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon. In addition, Haverford is fourth in the Mideast Regional ranking after an eighth place overall showing in a stacked field at the Paul Short Run Brown Race Saturday afternoon. 

The Fords scored 368 points to finish well clear of ninth-place finisher Southern New Hampshire (404 points) in the annual 8k race. Haverford eclipsed a bevy of Division I squads in the process, including regionally ranked sides from George Washington and Bucknell.  First-year Ryan Kredell paced the Fords with a time of 25:15.0 for a 36th place finish while sophomore Max Brelig was just behind him in a personal-best 25:15.9, taking 37th overall.

The top five squads in the poll underwent a considerable shakeup to the national landscape, as Williams climbed to the No. 1 ranking for the first time in program history, a spot the Ephs now share with North Central (Ill.), as the Cardinals share the top ranking for the first time since the 2016 campaign. Wartburg is ranked No. 3, while SUNY Geneseo climbed nine spots into the No. 4 position. Washington-St. Louis is the nation's fifth ranked men's team.

In the Mideast region rankings, No. 7 Carnegie Mellon and No. 8 Johns Hopkins are ahead of Centennial challenger No. 22 Dickinson and the No. 25 Fords. Elizabethtown, Swarthmore, York (Pa.), Moravian, Stevenson, and Widener make up the rest of the Mideast Top 10. 

With a bye week from competition, the Fords now shift gears to a crucial mid-season test at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle on October 19. The race is slated to begin at 11:45 a.m in Glassboro, N.J.
