Virtual Senior Days: Haverford College Men's Cross Country Class of 2021

With the 2021 fall sports unable to hold traditional Senior Days on campus, the Haverford College Athletic Department is recognizing these seniors in a virtual ceremony, with some special help from their teammates. Today, we celebrate the 2021 Haverford College men's cross country seniors.


Men's Cross Country Class of 2021 

  • Team made three appearances at NCAA Division III National Championships, including a fourth place team finish in 2018
  • Program has now made 27 consecutive appearances at the national championship
  • Haverford won the Centennial Conference title on two occasions (2017, 18), finishing second in 2019 
  • Squad finished in the top three in the Mideast Region in each of this senior classes'  three competitive seasons on campus, including the regional title in 2017 
  • The Fords garnered the USTFCCCA Academic Team Award in each season this class was on campus.

Nathan Akerhielm • Mathematics Major, English and Spanish Minor • Greenville, S.C.

Abe Doroshow • Chemistry Major • Washington, D.C. 

  • Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll in each season of eligibility
  • Also serves as a co-head of the Humtones A capella group on campus 

Jack Fanikos • Classical Languages Major • Andover, Mass. 

  • Joined the Fords during his junior season as a transfer student from University of Chicago 
  • Competed in six races 
  • Personal Bests: 
  • 8K: 29:13.4 (Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle Open - 10/19/19)
    4 mile: 23:31.7 (Main Line Invitational - 9/20/19)

Jack Hunter • Physics Major • San Francisco, Calif. 

  • Took the individual title at the Dan Talbot Open during the 2019 season
  • Haverford's top finisher at last October's Haverford Invitational 
  • Ran to a 33rd place finish at the Centennial Conference championships

Jacob Landsberg • Physics Major, History and Statistics Minor • Claremont, Calif.

  • Took a 23rd place finish in last season's Centennial Conference Championships Open Race

Simon Perales • Physics Major • Oberlin, Ohio

  • Finished 13th at last season's Centennial Conference Championships Open Race

Gene Perry • Psychology Major, Economics Minor • Stratford, Conn.
