Softball picked to finish 3rd in Centennial preseason poll

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Centennial Conference softball coaches believe Haverford College will be a playoff participant for the second consecutive year as the Fords were picked to finish third in the annual preseason coaches poll.

Haverford is coming off an impressive 2013 campaign that saw the Fords tie the program record for wins in a season (26) on the way to advancing to the conference championship game.

Defending champion Washington College topped the poll with four first-place votes and 57 points overall. The Shorewomen's point total was just one point better than second-place Muhlenberg College, which earned three first-place votes. Muhlenberg had finished the 2013 regular season atop the conference standings.

Haverford accumulated 48 points while McDaniel College and Gettysburg College rounded out the top five with 47 and 40 points, respectively. McDaniel and Gettysburg also received one first-place vote apiece.
