CLERMONT, Fla. – The Haverford College softball team continued to take on a challenging schedule Monday as the Fords took on No. 17 Moravian and SUNY Oneonta. Haverford battled the nationally-ranked Greyhounds until the final out before falling 5-2. SUNY Oneonta emerged a 10-2 winner in Haverford's second game of the morning.

In the opening game against Moravian, unearned runs proved to be the difference as the Greyhounds tacked on three such runs in the third inning. Moravian got the game started on a sacrifice fly in the first inning that scored a leadoff double. However, Haverford got that run back in the bottom of the second as Ashley Sisto doubled into left field and came around to score on an RBI groundout from Temma Levis.

The Greyhounds had two runners on in the third inning with two outs, but an error allowed the first run of the inning to come in. However, the big blow came in the next at-bat when a two-out double pushed across the eventual game-winning runs in unearned fashion. The Fords got one of those runs back on the bottom of the fourth as Kendall Chambers reached on an error that scored Sisto. Nevertheless, Moravian added on its final run of the afternoon in the top of the seventh.

Chambers got the start in the circle and allowed just one earned run in her four innings of work before turning the game over to Levis in relief. Levis followed that up by allowing just one run herself in three innings of work. Sisto and Levis led the Haverford offense in the opening game as they each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Coming right back against SUNY Oneonta, the Red Dragons scored five times in the first inning to put the Fords in a hole they could never climb out of. Haverford did get two of those runs back in the third inning as Alex Craig worked a one-out walk while a double from Rachel Wolfson at the top of the order put a pair of runners in scoring position. Both of those runs came around to score on a misplayed ball off the bat of Julia Blake to make the score 6-2.

Despite Haverford chipping into the lead, the Red Dragons came back to score in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, putting the run-rule in effect. Sisto joined Wolfson and Craig as the three Fords to record hits during the team's second game on Monday. Wolfson and Craig both doubled for their hits in the game.

After playing doubleheaders in back-to-back games, softball will take Tuesday off and play just a single game on Wednesday as the Fords battle Husson at 9 a.m.
