Softball Hosts Senior Day against McDaniel

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College softball team celebrated the career of Kendall Chambers on Saturday as the Fords took on first-place McDaniel in the season finale. Although Chambers is one of just a handful of players who has graduated from the program as a two-time Centennial Conference Champion, the Green Terror had the upper hand on this day with 3-2 and 10-2 wins on the Class of '95 Field.

In game one, Chambers got the start in the circle and did not allow a run over her final six innings of work. During those final six frames of game one, the senior co-captain allowed just one hit. However, the Green Terror scored three times in the first before holding on for a wild win.

Chambers got Haverford on the board in game one as she drove an RBI single back through the middle with two outs to score Jessica Koshinski after she had previously reached on a fielder's choice. Chambers finished her first game 2-for-3 at the plate as she also singled to start Haverford's threat at the game-tying rally in the seventh.

After beating out the infield single, Chambers advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a single from Alex Craig. Craig eventually moved to third on a wild throw into the outfield. In a bizarre finish, the umpires called an illegal pitch that would have sent home the game-tying run before that call was overruled and McDaniel escaped the jam with a groundout on the infield.

The Green Terror capped the sweep with big innings during the third and fourth of game two. McDaniel scored three times in the third and five times in the fourth to provide most of the offense in the team's 10-2 victory.

Haverford got its two runs in the fifth as Casey Wakai worked a walk with two outs before back-to-back RBI doubles from Rachel Wolfson and Ashley Sisto made the score 9-2 before the eventual 10-2 final in six innings.

Chambers graduates from Haverford as a member of 89 victories, two conference championships, two regional championship appearances, and the program's first-ever appearance in an NCAA Super Regional where the Fords were just one game away from the College World Series. During that time, she set the school record for career saves with 11 and ranks second in pitching appearances with 89 during her career.
