Erin Brooks Resigns as Softball Coach

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College softball head coach Erin Brooks has announced her resignation in order to accept the same position at nearby Saint Joseph's University. Brooks recently completed her third season as head coach at Haverford, compiling a 60-53-1 record with the Fords, highlighted by the program's first-ever NCAA Regional Championship and Super Regional appearance during the 2016 season.

Hitting the ground running at Haverford, Brooks was named the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year in her inaugural season with the Fords, going 25-10-1 to post the second-best winning percentage in program history. Just one year later, the 2016 season caught the eyes of Division III softball as Haverford earned its way into the postseason on the final day of the regular season before a historic run through the conference and national tournament. The Fords became the first team in conference history to drop its first game of the Centennial Conference Tournament before winning four straight elimination games to hoist the conference trophy. This was the third Centennial Conference Championship in program history while the Class of 2016 was the first class to appear in the postseason during each of its four seasons.

At the NCAA Regional Tournament, the Fords defeated nationally-ranked No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan and No. 2 Salisbury to capture the regional championship for the first time in program history. The Fords dramatic postseason run, which featured six elimination game victories in total, continued at the Super Regionals where the Fords fell to eventual national runner-up Messiah in the decisive third game – just one victory away from the Women's College World Series.

In addition to the team's on field success, 14 of Brooks' student-athletes went on to earn All-Centennial Conference recognition. That list featured six first-team All-CC selections on top of the 2015 Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year Jessica Koshinski '18 and 2016 Centennial Conference Tournament MVP Sara Tauriello '16. Her players also combined for 13 selections to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll during her tenure.

Brooks accepted the head coaching position at Haverford College after previous stops at John Carroll and Pacific Lutheran. During her combined 10 seasons as a head coach, Brooks has won 230 games against just 166 losses. Her teams have qualified for their respective conference tournaments in eight of those seasons with three combined trips to the NCAA Tournament.

A national search will be undertaken for Brooks' replacement.
