HAVERFORD, Pa. – Emma Souter has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career after batting .600 and helping the Haverford College softball team to a 3-0-1 record in conference play last week. Souter's honor makes her the third different Ford honored by the conference this season as Julia Blake has previously been a two-time player of the week selection while Temma Levis was named CC Pitcher of the Week just seven days ago.

Batting in the heart of Haverford's lineup throughout her career, Souter had four multi-hit games last week as the Fords swept rival Swarthmore, won game one against Gettysburg, and were tied with the Bullets when darkness halted play with the score tied 6-6. Souter scored seven runs on the week, including three during Haverford's 5-2 win against Swarthmore in the front end of that doubleheader. She also drove in three runs and had four doubles on the week to finish with an .867 slugging percentage.

After leading the Centennial Conference in slugging percentage as a first-year, Souter is once again among the conference leaders during her sophomore campaign. She is currently leading the conference in batting average (.408), doubles (14), and sacrifice flies (4), while ranking second in hits (42) and slugging percentage (.631). Haverford's third baseman is also top 10 in the conference in runs scored, home runs, runs batted in, and total bases. On top of her offensive prowess, Souter's 87 defensive assists at the hot corner lead the conference.

Since turning the slate to Centennial Conference play, Souter has seen an uptick in her offensive production. She is currently batting .500 in conference contests and is leading the league in runs, hits, doubles, and sacrifice flies in those games. Souter is slugging .725 in Centennial Conference action and getting on base at a .500 clip.

Softball is currently in a tight race with Dickinson for first-place and the right to host the Centennial Conference Tournament heading into the final week of the regular season. The Fords are 8-2-2 in Centennial Conference play and hold the exact same winning percentage as Dickinson (9-3 CC). Those two squads split a pair of one-run games just over a week ago. However, the Fords control their own destiny for hosting the Centennial Conference Tournament since both of those ties on the Fords' schedule will be resumed if those results will make a difference in the final regular season standings.

Haverford continues Centennial Conference play this Tuesday at third-place Ursinus. The Fords will also host Franklin & Marshall on Senior Day this Saturday to close the regularly scheduled conference dates as the aforementioned ties against Washington College and Gettysburg are still looming. Haverford is also scheduled to travel to Moravian for a 3 p.m. doubleheader this Thursday as the Fords have a very busy slate to close the final week of the regular season.
