Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The first batch of postseason honors have rolled in for the Haverford College softball team as the Centennial Conference announced its annual postseason award winners on Wednesday afternoon. First year Mia Kessinger and junior Abby Marquis were each named to first-team All-Centennial Conference honors while Carley Parsons was also named to second-team honors following her junior campaign. Junior Kaila Uyeda was named the Centennial Conference Gold Glove of the Year for her outstanding defense at shortstop.

Kessinger earned the honor after a standout rookie campaign with the Fords. She was one of four players who appeared in all 34 games and hit .330 with a pair of home runs, 18 RBI, and 16 runs scored while swiping three bases on the year. Kessinger, of Kentfield, Calif. tallied 10 multi-hit games and collected multiple RBI in four contests in 2022.

Marquis, of Albuquerque, N.M. was a breakthrough star for Haverford in her junior season, as she appeared in all 34 games and provided a middle of the order power presence to help guide the squad through the CC slate. She roped a program-record 20 doubles and hit a whopping .422 while slugging .696 with a pair of home runs, 25 RBI, 15 runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Marquis led the CC in doubles (20) and finished second in total bases (71) while logging top 10 finishes in RBI, average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and homers. Defensively, she guided a young pitching staff behind the plate and finished fourth among conference catchers in runners caught stealing (6).

Parsons, of Yardley, Pa. was another junior standout as the outfielder hit .278 on the season with seven RBI, 21 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 34 games. Her 10 steals during conference games was top in the CC and her 12 sacrifice hits also paced the conference in that category.

Uyeda, of San Diego, Calif. was routinely called upon to make the difficult plays look easy as Haverford's starting shortstop during her junior year.  She appeared in all 34 games at the top of the Haverford order, but her defensive prowess was recognized as she helped turn eight double plays and had a team-best 71 assists, a mark good for seventh in the Centennial. Uyeda is the first Haverford player to earn the defensive honor.

Eve Dallmeyer-Drennen, of Canandaigua, N.Y. was named to the Centennial Conference's All-Sportsmanship Team. Dallmeyer-Drennen appeared in 10 games for the Fords, logging 17 at-bats and scoring two runs this season.
