Erin Brooks will enter her fourth season at the helm of the Haverford College softball program in 2018. The beginning of her tenure has witnessed the team reach previously unmatched heights as Haverford advanced to its first NCAA Super Regional Appearance in program history during the 2016 season.

It was a memorable year for the Fords in 2016 as the team became the first in Centennial Conference history to come back from an opening round defeat and win four straight games to capture the team’s second conference title in three seasons. Paired up with the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the entire country in the NCAA Regional, Haverford twice defeated No. 2 Salisbury to clinch its first appearance in the NCAA Super Regional. The Fords, who had won six straight elimination games during their postseason journey, saw their magical ride come to an end just one game short of the NCAA College World Series as they fell to Messiah in the best-of-three Super Regional.

During her first year with the Fords, Brooks was named the Centennial Coach of the Year as she led the team to 25 victories and the second best winning percentage (.708) in program history.

On the field, Haverford has had 14 players named All-Centennial Conference under Brooks’ watch, including six first-team honorees. That list includes a Centennial Conference Tournament MVP, Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year, and an NFCA all-region selection. In the classroom, Haverford has had 13 players named to the conference’s academic honor roll.

Brooks was hired as Haverford College's fourth softball head coach on July 3, 2014. She came to Haverford College after serving as the head coach at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash. Brooks also spent six years as a head coach at John Carroll University, leading the program to back-to-back NCAA Division III appearances during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Erin has a deep appreciation for the Division III philosophy and is committed to providing an environment in which her student-athletes can excel in all facets of their collegiate career.”

“I am thankful and honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Haverford softball team,” stated Brooks upon taking over the program. “Pride is evident within the program, and I look forward to continuing the Fords’ commitment to excellence, success, and hard work on and off the field. I accept this position with excitement and eagerness to get started.”

Brooks’ 2014 season at Pacific Lutheran was highlighted by three separate four-game winning streaks, including eight victories in the final 11 games of the season. Five players earned all-conference accolades following that season, two of which were honored as All-West Region selections.

Prior to Pacific Lutheran, Brooks had a six-year tenure at John Carroll University where she led the Blue Streaks to a 154-89 record, including a 74-32 mark in Ohio Athletic Conference play. Under Brooks, John Carroll made Ohio Athletic Conference softball playoff appearances all six years after qualifying for the OAC playoffs just once prior to her arrival.

Brooks led her team to its first-ever OAC postseason tournament title in 2010, a feat that was repeated in 2012. That same year, the Blue Streaks advanced to NCAA Division III postseason play for the first time, and they repeated that accomplishment in 2013 after placing second in the OAC.

Prior to becoming head coach at John Carroll, Brooks served as the school's assistant softball coach and graduate assistant in 2006-07. She earned her master's degree in business administration from John Carroll University in 2009.

Brooks started her college athletic career at Cabrini College, where as a sophomore she earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association second-team All-America Division III honors in 2001. She transferred to Division I Fordham University where she was a team captain in 2003 and 2004. Named the Fordham Female Athlete of the Year as a senior and later inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame, Brooks earned second-team Verizon Academic All-America recognition in 2004. She earned her bachelor's degree in management of communications and information systems from Fordham in May 2004.

In addition to coaching softball, Brooks has worked for Major League Baseball Advanced Media as a business intelligence engineer and data analyst since 2003.
