A veteran softball coach with over 20 years of experience, Chris Poppe joined the Haverford College softball team as an assistant coach prior to the 2018 season. The father of Haverford head coach Kate Poppe, he has been coaching at various levels since 2000.

Most recently, Poppe worked at the NCAA Division I level with Rider University during the 2017 season, working primarily with the team’s hitters and outfielders. Poppe also worked with the Broncs’ pitching staff and has served as a private pitching instructor since 2012. Getting his start as a little league coach, Poppe coached the 10U PA State Champions in 2014. He also coached the Chester County Stars Softball team from 2008-12, founded the Exton Millenium Travel Softball Program in 2010, and spent one season as a coach at Bishop Shanahan High School in 2015.

Graduating with his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Villanova, Poppe works full-time as a Pharmaceutical Sales Manager for the DowDupont Corporation.
