Haverford held Elizabethtown scoreless until the 16:47 mark of the first half as the Blue Jays missed their first five shots from the floor. The Landmark Conference foe scored the next eight points and went on a 16-3 run to jump in front 16-8 with 9:48 remaining in the first half. With the Blue Jays up by their largest margin of the half at 19-10, the Fords recorded 12 of the next 14 points to take a 22-21 lead with 3:32 left in the first stanza. A basket by Erika Ferro would give the visitors a 23-22 advantage heading into the locker room.

Senior Jacquelyne Pizzuto registered seven first half points and two steals. The Fords blocked five shots in the first 20 minutes of game action led by senior Shannon Smith's three denials and freshman Samantha Wetzel's two rejections. Smith also added four points and a team-high six rebounds in the first half.

The two teams exchanged leads in the beginning of the second half before the Fords rattled off six straight points to take their largest lead of the game at 34-29 with 14:40 left. With the defending Centennial Conference Champions ahead 38-35, Elizabethtown scored seven consecutive points to go ahead, 42-38. The Fords responded with four consecutive free throws to tie the score (42-42) with 5:57 to go. The back and forth between the two teams continued as a layup and free throw by Rachel Forjan put Elizabethtown ahead 47-44 at the 3:33 mark.

A few minutes later, Pizzuto sank two free throws to put the score at 49-48 Blue Jays with 53 seconds remaining. On the next possession, Smith came up with her fourth block of the game, but Emily Martin was there for the put-back layup to put Elizabethtown up by three again with eight seconds left. After free throws by both teams set the score at 52-49, the Fords' last shot at the buzzer was off the mark, giving the Blue Jays the victory.

 

Freshman Sierra Berkel had her first career double-double with a season-high 14 points and 11 rebounds while also grabbing four steals. With her 4-of-5 day from the floor, the freshman is now shooting 76.6 percent for the season. Pizzuto also had 14 points while also snagging a team-high five steals. Smith finished the game with six points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
