HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team (8-6) set a program record with 15 blocks as it took down the Bryn Mawr College Owls (0-9) 80-22 at the Gooding '84 Arena on Thursday night.

Senior Shannon Smith led the Fords with five blocks while five of her teammates also tallied at least one. Freshman Samantha Wetzel added four blocks off the bench.

Haverford started quick scoring the first seven points of the game and 11 of the first 14 in the first five minutes. Bryn Mawr hit a three-pointer to cut its deficit to five, but Haverford rattled off seven straight and never looked back.

Sophomore Darby Festa and senior Elizabeth Lynch led the home team with 14 points each. Festa had a banner day as she set career highs in points and blocks (two) while tying her career best in rebounds (five) and steals (one). Wetzel recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Smith had seven points, nine rebounds and three steals along with her five blocks. Freshman Sierra Berkel had her third consecutive game of at least 10 rebounds. Junior Olivia Walsh added a career best 12 points off the bench in the win. 12 different Haverford players scored in the game.

The 22 points was the lowest total for a Haverford opponent since it held Bryn Mawr to 22 points on Dec. 4, 2010. The Fords reached the 80 point plateau for the first time this season and the 10th time in program history. Haverford's 26 assists were the second most in a single game and its 34 field goals were the fifth best in the team's history.

The Fords now travel to Dickinson on Saturday with the game scheduled for 2 p.m. Haverford has already defeated Dickinson this year with a 78-48 win on Nov. 18.
