CARLISLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team used a 23-9 run in the second half to pull away and defeat the Dickinson College Red Devils 61-48 on Saturday at the Kline Center.

The first half was a back and forth battle that saw seven different lead changes. The Red Devils were up 6-4 at the 15:39 mark before they were held without a basket over the next four minutes. Haverford scored eight of nine points during that span which gave the visitors their largest lead of the first half (12-7) with 11:52 to go. Dickinson responded with a 6-0 run of its own to retake a 13-12 advantage with 9:30 remaining. Both teams traded leads before the Fords scored five straight to push their lead up to four after a three-pointer by senior Jacquelyne Pizzuto. The Red Devils jumped back in front 21-19, but the Fords ended the first half by scoring six of the final seven points to go into the locker room up 25-22.

Freshman Samantha Wetzel led the Fords with seven points while freshman Sierra Berkel had six points and five rebounds in the first 20 minutes of game action.

After the home team tied the score at 25 in the second stanza, Haverford went in front after scoring 10 of the next 12 to lead 35-27 with 16:13 left in the game. After having its lead cut to five at the 14:32 mark, Haverford would not let Dickinson get any closer. The Fords led by as many as 15 before taking the game by the final score.

Pizzuto led all scorers with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including four three-pointers which tied her career high. Her 19 points were one shy of tying her personal best. Berkel tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Wetzel finished the game with 10 points, three rebounds and two blocks. Senior Elizabeth Lynch scored six points, dished out six assists and snagged four steals and rebounds. Her six assists tied her career high in the win.

Today's victory was the 10th time that the Fords have beaten the Red Devils in program history and sixth time in the last seven games. Haverford improves its record to 9-6 on the season and 7-1 in conference play while Dickinson dropped to 3-11 and 1-9 in the conference.
