Women's Basketball Receives WBCA Academic Award

WBCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's basketball team was honored as a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 team for just the fourth time in program history.

The Fords finished with their highest mark ever, placing eighth (3.565), eclipsing their top mark of 16th last season. The team was also selected in the 1999 and 2000 seasons, finishing 23rd and 21st in the nation, respectively. The team GPA includes all student-athletes on the roster for the entire season.

Haverford is the only Centennial Conference team to earn recognition on the WBCA Top 25 Academic Honor Roll the past two seasons. This year saw the Fords have six members, Clio Bodie, Darby Festa, Pallavi Juneja, Elizabeth Lynch, Jacquelyne Pizzuto and Shannon Smith, selected to the Centennial Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, tied for the most in the conference.

Head coach Bobbi Morgan's squad finished with 16 wins during the 2014-15 season marking the first time that the team has won at least 15 games in four straight years. The Fords were ninth in the country in assist-to-turnover (1.19), 25th in blocks per game (5.2), 33rd in scoring defense (52.8) and 41st in defensive field goal percentage (33.5).
