COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's basketball team (4-0, 1-0 CC) picked up its first true road victory of the season at Ursinus (2-2, 0-1 CC) on Tuesday night inside Hellfferich Hall, prevailing by a 55-44 final in the Centennial Conference opener for both squads.

Junior forward Megan Furch paced all scorers with a career-best 15 points, adding seven rebounds. Senior guard Macy Goldbach tallied in double figures for the fourth straight contest, adding 12 points while also pulling down six rebounds and dishing out four assists. Junior Maddie Gallic was a force, with seven points and nine rebounds. Junior Anna-Sophia Capizzi also tallied nine points. Haverford shot a season-best 44 percent on the night.

The first quarter began on an 11-2 run for Haverford, with Gallic scoring the first four points ahead of layups from Furch and Capizzi. After Gallic added two from the line, the Fords forced a turnover and Gallic finished a layup promptly on the other end, tallying her seven points in just the first five minutes of the contest. Ursinus was able to cut the lead to just five at 24-19 with 3:26 to play in the second, but Hannah Zoll connected on her first three-pointer of the season, restoring an eight-point lead for the Fords at 27-19 with just over two minutes to play in the half.

At the intermission, the Fords held an eight-point advantage at 29-21. Haverford shot 44 percent in the first half and collected 23 rebounds while limiting the Bears to just a 27 percent shooting performance.

Ursinus began the second half strong, responding after threes from Capizzi and Goldbach to cut the lead back down to five with 4:39 left in the third. Julianna Clark knocked down a trey just seconds before the buzzer to end the third quarter, sending Haverford to a nine-point lead entering the final stanza. Goldbach opened the fourth with a three-pointer of her own to restore a double-digit advantage at 47-35. The lead grew to as many as 16 following a Capizzi layup with 8:21 remaining in regulation.

A bucket from Furch salted the game away with just over two minutes to play in the fourth quarter as Haverford saw its lead back up to 14 at that point. The final score would reflect an 11 point advantage as Katherine Eckhoff connected from three-point range in the waning moments for Ursinus

The Fords had a total team effort on the glass, with four Fords grabbing five or more rebounds as part of a 38-28 advantage in the category on the evening. Zoll added a career-best seven boards and added five points in a reserve role. Katie Cook added six assists.

Following a break for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Fords will be back in action on Tuesday, November 27, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 7 p.m. inside the Gooding '84 Arena. Last season, the Fords swept the season series from the Diplomats. Haverford has won its last 12 matchups with Franklin & Marshall dating back to 2012.
