CARLISLE, Pa. - The Haverford College women's basketball team (9-3, 5-3 CC) posted a wire-to-wire 64-52 victory over home-standing Dickinson (5-7, 2-5 CC) on Tuesday evening at the Kline Center. The Fords used a 24-4 run to build a comfortable lead in the first half before cruising to victory, thanks in part to a stellar shooting night from senior co-captain Macy Goldbach. Goldbach led all scorers with 18 points, knocking down four three-pointers in her 29 minutes of action, while Julianna Clark added 12 points off the bench.

The first quarter began with Haverford coming out of the gates strong, jetting out to an 8-0 run. Dickinson called for an early timeout, looking to regroup after a barrage of points in the paint was punctuated with a fastbreak layup from Goldbach with 6:40 to play in the first. The Red Devils climbed back into the contest, trailing by just two at 10-8, but the Haverford defense proved to be stifling in the opening moments. Clark knocked down a bucket from three-point range before adding a pair at the free throw line in the final minutes of the period as the Fords found themselves with an eight point lead at 18-10 after 10 minutes of play.

Goldbach drilled a trey at the start of the second quarter, handing Haverford its first double-digit lead of the contest at 21-10. The lead grew further to 16 at 30-14, as Anna-Sophia Capizzi finished a layup with 6:24 remaining in the first half, prompting another timeout from the Dickinson bench. The stoppage was unsuccessful in halting the Fords' offensive rhythm as Goldbach extended the lead to 20 at 34-14 as she connected on yet another from three-point land, putting a cap on a stellar first half that saw the senior co-captain pour in 16 points, thanks in part for a 4-for-6 effort from beyond the arc.

Maddie Gallic and Capizzi each converted from the charity stripe in the waning moments of the half as Haverford headed to the locker room with a commanding 23 point advantage.

With the tenor of the contest set in the standout first half, the Fords kept up the intensity in the third. Katie Cook knocked down a three to begin the quarter, as the lead hit 26. The lead reached its peak of 27 with 3:42 to go in the third, as Hannah Zoll finished a runner. A Clark fastbreak layup would see Haverford ahead by that same 27-point margin as late as 1:57 remaining in the penultimate period.

Dickinson was able to chip away at the lead in the fourth as the Fords experimented with new groupings on the floor with the result firmly in hand. Haverford finished the contest with a 12-point margin of victory.

Gallic and Megan Furch each added nine points and pulled down five rebounds while Capizzi poured in eight points. Cook joined Goldbach and Gallic with three assists each. The Fords controlled the battle down low, with 36 points in the paint to just 20 for Dickinson. The Fords also held a 35-31 rebounding advantage on the evening. Haverford has now won five straight contests against Dickinson, including the last three meetings in Carlisle.

The Fords will return to action on Saturday, hosting McDaniel at 1 p.m. inside Gooding '84 Arena. The contest is part of a Centennial Conference doubleheader, as the Haverford men will host Johns Hopkins at 3 p.m.
