Capizzi Earns CC Player of the Week After Career Night at Swarthmore

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - For the second time this season, Haverford senior guard Anna-Sophia Capizzi has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Capizzi earns the latest award after a dominant outing against Swarthmore, as the Chevy Chase, Md. product set a new career-best with 29 points in the contest. The senior excelled from the three-point line on Wednesday night, going 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and also getting to the basket with ease on an 11-for-16 shooting night. She added six rebounds, a block, and an assist with no turnovers in the resounding 31-point win for Haverford.

Capizzi currently leads the conference in points per game (18.7), and is sixth in field goal percentage (47.7) and three-point percentage (38.5). Her 37 made three pointers is also tops in the Centennial Conference. 

The biology major previously took home the award on November 26, after keying a 2-0 week for the Fords with two impressive 20-plus point performances against Ursinus and Eastern. Capizzi was an All-Centennial Conference selection in 2018-19 after Haverford captured the Centennial Conference championship, earning a second consecutive NCAA tournament bid. 

Haverford returns to action on Wednesday, facing off with Franklin & Marshall at 6 p.m. at Gooding Arena. The contest will be followed by the Haverford men taking on the Diplomats at 8 p.m, and the annual Senior Blanket Ceremony will be held at halftime.
