Full WBCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford senior guard Anna-Sophia Capizzi has notched yet another postseason award to cap the 2019-20 season, as she was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III Coaches' All-Team on Thursday, garnering an honorable mention plaudit.

The 2019-20 Centennial Conference Player of the Year is just the second player in program history to earn All-America honors, as she joins Nina Voith '14 in receiving the WBCA recognition.  Capizzi was previously named a D3Hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region first-team selection this week, and was recognized with selection to the Beyond Sports/WBCA Women's Collegiate All-Star Game earlier this month.

Capizzi had a breakout campaign in her final year in a Haverford uniform, garnering a Centennial Conference Tournament MVP selection after leading the Fords to a second consecutive conference crown and a third straight NCAA tournament berth. The Chevy Chase, Md. native took home Player of the Week honors on four separate occasions, leading the conference in points per game (19.2) while shooting .449 from the field. Capizzi tallied in double-digit scoring in all but one contest this season, and tallied 20 or more points in 14 games.

A cornerstone for a team that rattled off a program-record 11 consecutive victories from January 15 to February 19, Capizzi started all 27 contests and logged 30 or more minutes on 18 separate occasions, as Haverford posted a program-best 18 conference wins in 2019-20. The biology major currently holds the program record for points in a single season (526), eclipsing that mark against Johns Hopkins in the regular season finale on February 22. Previously, Capizzi etched her name into the Haverford record books by scoring her 1,000th career point against Muhlenberg on February 12, also taking over the program single-season record for three-pointers in the process. Capizzi has 78 career three-pointers and finishes her Haverford career sixth in program history in total career points (1115).

The WBCA presents the Player of the Year award annually to the top player in five of the six WBCA membership divisions (NCAA Divisions II, and III, NAIA, two-year college and high school). The Player of the Year and the 10-member Coaches' All-America team in each division are selected by a committee of WBCA member coaches in that division.
