Women's Fencing Goes 3-1 at Dan Arnstein '09 Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. – On Saturday, the Haverford College women's fencing team defeated visitors Maryland, Navy, and William & Mary. Fencing inside of the Andy Kates Fencing Salle against outside competition for the first time this season, Haverford's lone defeat came only to defending EWFC Champion Johns Hopkins.

Amira Abujbara had the most wins against the Fords' toughest opponent. The senior co-captain defeated two of her three Blue Jay opponents in the foil. Abujbara's foilists saved the win against William & Mary, having an undefeated 9-0 run to help their team top the Tribe.

Foilists Alexandra Morrison and Zuyi Wang helped blank Navy 9-0 as well in that weapon. With the help of those two 9-0 victories, foil was a combined 25-2 in Haverford's three wins. That weapon also provided the strongest challenge to Johns Hopkins.

Lauren Pronger and Amanda Soled both had strong wins in the epee as the squad won against Navy. Anna Neuheardt led the sabre squad to wins against Maryland and Navy.

Women's fencing will have a break from competition during the upcoming weekend but will be back at home to defend its strips during the Tri-Co Invitational on Saturday, December 3. Fencing on that day is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
