CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Haverford College women's fencing team recorded a hard-fought 14-13 win against Ivy League opponent Brown and got several stellar individual performances to highlight Sunday's action at the Sollee Invitational.

The sabrists led Haverford with 20 combined individual wins on Super Bowl Sunday. None were more crucial than the seven recorded against the Bears to help Haverford prevail by a single bout. Sabre was also a 5-4 winner as a squad against host MIT to close the day. Sophomore Anna Neuheardt recorded 10 of those victories as she went 10-2 during the final four rounds. Neuheardt was a perfect 3-0 during both of sabre's squad victories.

Emily Brown and Sofia Tieze each recorded two wins to help Haverford upend the Bears. Tieze completed her afternoon with six bout victories as she won at least once during four of the five rounds and was 2-1 against Brandeis as sabre nearly toppled the Judges as well before falling by a 5-4 margin. Brown completed her afternoon with five bout wins to her credit.

Foil got a very well-rounded effort from each of its three fencers. Co-captains Alexandra Morrison and Amira Abujbara led the squad with seven and five bout victories, respectively. Zuyi Wang was not far behind with four wins under her belt. Coming up just one bout short of a squad victory during the first three rounds, the foilists gave NYU, Brown, and Boston College all they could handle. Each of Haverford's foil fencers recorded at least one win during those three meetings.

Katie Bradley came up with three huge wins in the team's victory against Brown to highlight the epee squad's day. Bradley later added a win against Brandeis, while Brooke Garbarini and Lauren Pronger also won a bout at the invitational.

The Sollee Invitational started a packed schedule as women's fencing will be in action every weekend during the month February. Up next, the Fords will travel to Madison, New Jersey for the Drew Invitational on Sunday, February 12. Fencing is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m. Drew will also be the host for the MACFA "A" vs. "C" bouts on the men's side next Sunday.
