HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College women's fencing senior Amira Abujbara has been recognized as an Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (EWFC) Women of the Year honorable mention selection. Abujbara joins seven of her conference peers in earning this recognition as announced by EWFC commissioner Damion Jones.

Abujbara started her fencing career at Haverford by joining the team during her sophomore campaign. In just three short years, Abujbara rose to the ranks of team captain at Haverford while her fencing prowess earned her a spot on the Qatar national team.

With her role as captain, Abujbara was instrumental in helping to guide a young Haverford team in which she was one of just two seniors. She capped her senior campaign with 10 wins in foil during the team competition portion of the EWFC Championship and followed that up by tying for the foil lead with nine wins out of the "B" poll at the NIWFA Championships.

In addition to excelling on the strips, the foilist was also recognized as an NIWFA Scholar-Athlete and member of the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team. Abujbara was also one of 16 Ambler Scholar-Athletes at Haverford, awarded to the top 16 GPAs among senior student-athletes.
