Women's Fencing Etches 3-1 Record At Johns Hopkins Invitational
BALTIMORE - On Sunday, February 6 the Haverford women's fencing team went down to Baltimore and took on Johns Hopkins as well as the squads from Navy, Rowan and Rutgers. The Fords dropped their decision to the host Blue Jays, but defeated the rest of the slate of opponents, going 3-1 on the day. Senior foilist Golda Glasser led all fencers with a 9-2 record, and the foil squad had the best overall record at 24-12, with Sophie Gardiner (6-2) Macy Brooks (3-2) and Petra Budavari (3-6) all contributing to the effort; six bouts in the foil went to four-all, and the Fords showed tenacity and won all six of those matchups.

Rebecca Osbaldeston (6-4) and Aamina Dhar (8-2) did the heavy lifting for the sabre squad, winning against Navy, Rowan, and Rutgers; Dhar was the winningest fencer against the toughest opponent, going 2-1 versus Johns Hopkins. Other wins against JHU came from Glasser, Gardiner, and newly-minted epeeist Ceanne Lyon, who led the epee squad with a 6-4 record on the day. Maria Yea and Joselyne Malan kicked in four and three wins for the epee squad, respectively.

Women's Fencing will have next weekend off from competition, followed by the Eastern Women's Fencing Conference championships (EWFC), a Division III tournament to be held at Vassar College on Sunday, February 20th.
