CLERMONT, Fla. - Senior Megan Gallagher, junior Diana Perry and freshman Sarina Manetta scored three goals apiece to help the Haverford College women's lacrosse team claim a wire-to-wire 13-10 victory over Bridgewater (Va.) College during spring break action at the National Training Center.
Playing their first of two games in the Florida sunshine, the Fords (3-1) got off to a great start by tallying five of the first six goals of the contest. Manetta opened the scoring with her fifth of the season in the game's second minute and classmate Courtney Carter followed with her fourth career goal six-plus minutes later. Sophomore Christina Gould's sixth of the year extended Haverford's lead to 3-0 before the Eagles (2-2) got on the scoreboard with 18:38 remaining in the first half.
Freshman Jamie Rosenstein scored her first collegiate goal just over a minute later before Perry gave the Fords their largest lead (5-1) of the half at 16:44.
Bridgewater battled back to tie the contest but Gallagher delivered her first of the day with 32 seconds to go on the first-half clock to put Haverford up by one at intermission (6-5).
The Fords regained momentum after the break with another three-goal outburst as Manetta, Perry and Gallagher each tallied their second of the game in the initial six minutes of second-half action.
Trailing by four (9-5), the Eagles eyed another rally as they tallied two straight but Gallagher extinguished thoughts of a Bridgewater comeback with her third of the afternoon with 12 minutes left to play.
The two squads went on to trade goals over the remainder of regulation as Perry and Manetta struck again while junior Dayna Kim added her first of the season.
Elyse Adler and Gould finished with two assists piece while Hannah Morgan added another.
Senior goalie Shannon Horn made three second-half saves to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Sophomore midfielder Jesse Colligan led the Eagles with three goals and an assist while freshman Rachel Gruber tallied nine stops in the loss.
Haverford's spring break slate concludes against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (0-1) on Thursday, March 13. The game against the Engineers, ranked 14th in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association national poll, begins at 11 a.m.
