HAVERFORD, Pa. - Ten different players tallied goals as the Haverford College women's lacrosse team cruised past visiting Eastern University, 15-4, in non-conference action on a rainy Wednesday afternoon at Swan Field.
The Fords (4-2) were ready to go from the opening draw as they erupted for five goals in the first seven minutes of the contest including two from senior Megan Gallagher.
Junior Sara Blaylock got the Eagles (3-4) on the scoreboard with a successful free-postion attempt with 22 minutes remaining until the break but Haverford continued to dominate play.
Gallagher, junior Diana Perry and freshman Maura Grant added to the Fords' total with a goal apiece over a three-minute span before Blaylock struck again with 7:39 left in the first half to bring the visitors within six (8-2).
Haverford responded in resounding fashion as it tallied the next seven goals of the game. Junior Dayna Kim kicked off the surge with her second of the year at 5:09 of the first half and sophomore Elyse Adler capped the outburst with back-to-back goals early in the second half. Adler's second of the day gave the Fords their largest lead of the game (15-2) with 17:30 remaining on the clock.
Gallagher paced the balanced attack with a game-high three goals while Perry, Adler and freshman Sarina Manetta contributed two goals apiece.
Kim and sophomore Christina Gould each chipped in with a goal and two assists while junior Hannah Morgan, sophomore Annie Kelly and freshman Jamie Rosenstein accounted for the Fords' other goals.
Haverford also won the battle for ground balls (21-15) with Manetta coming up with a team-high four.
Sophomore goalie Megan Chenworth (1-1) earned her first career victory with one save in over 42 minutes of action before giving way to junior Margaret Perkoff.
Eastern freshman Megan McReynolds (1-2) suffered the loss in goal.
Next up for the Fords is the Centennial Conference opener against host Gettysburg College on Saturday at 1 p.m. The defending conference champion Bullets (4-0) are currently ranked fifth in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III poll.
