Fords surge past McDaniel

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Nine different players tallied goals to help the Haverford College women's lacrosse team surge past visiting McDaniel College, 18-14, in Centennial Conference action on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Swan Field.

Trailing 5-3 three after 15 minutes of play, the Fords (5-2, 1-1 CC) scored the final five goals of the half on the way to an 8-5 lead at the break.

Haverford picked up where it left off after intermission as the Fords' offense deposited the first five goals of second-half action.

Junior Diana Perry (pictured) started off the 10-goal surge with her 20th of the season on a free-position shot with 14 minutes to go in the first half. Six different players tallied goals in the tide-turning streak before freshman Maura Grant's seventh of the season gave Haverford its largest lead of the contest (13-5) with 23 minutes remaining on the clock.

The Green Terror (5-3, 1-1) closed within five several times over the next 15 minutes of play before back-to-back goals from freshman Stephanie Kisciras and sophomore Annie Kelly gave the Fords a seven-goal cushion (18-11) with 3:27 to go.

McDaniel scored the last three goals of the game including two in the final minute to account for the final score.

Perry and Grant finished with three goals apiece while Megan Gallagher, Christina Gould, Sarina Manetta, Dayna Kim and Kisciras chipped in with two each. Hannah Morgan and Kelly tallied the remaining goals.
