Fords fall to #8 F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. - Juniors Diana Perry and Hannah Morgan scored two goals apiece but the visiting Haverford College women's lacrosse team fell to eighth-ranked Franklin & Marshall College, 12-5, in Centennial Conference action at Tylus Field on Saturday.

Tallying seven of the first eight goals of the contest, the Diplomats (13-3, 7-0 CC) moved out to a 7-1 advantage with seven and a half minutes left until the break.

The Fords (7-7, 3-4) dug deep and responded with a surge of their own over the remainder of first-half action. Perry converted back-to-back free position shots over a span of two minutes to pull the visitors within four (7-3) with 4:22 left on the clock. Kim then added another free position goal in the closing seconds of the opening stanza.

Haverford looked to continue its comeback after intermission but the Dips remained undefeated in conference play this season by scoring five of the final six goals of the game. Morgan, who accounted for the Fords' first goal of the game, was the only one able to get one past F&M goalie Kelsey Hoffman (11-3) in the final 30 minutes.

Morgan, Perry and Kim combined to go 5-for-5 in free position attempts over the course of the afternoon. Perry also tallied a game-high five draw controls as Haverford won 11 of the game's 19 draws.

Senior Rosie Samide registered a team-high three ground balls while junior Brianna Robbins notched three caused turnovers.

Senior Shannon Horn (6-5) made 11 saves in the loss.

Emily Everdell and Mary Mitchell paced the Diplomats with three goals apiece.

The Fords return to action on Wednesday with a conference contest against visiting Ursinus College beginning at 4 p.m.
