Women's lacrosse edged by Ursinus

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Junior Dayna Kim and freshman Sarina Manetta scored two goals apiece but the Haverford College women's lacrosse team fell 6-4 to visiting Ursinus College in Centennial Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Swan Field.

The Fords (7-8, 3-5 CC) wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard as Kim found the back of the net in the game's third minute. Manetta then gave the hosts a two-goal cushion with her 17th of the season off a pass from junior Diana Perry at 25:25.

Kim continued the Haverford surge with her second of the day on a free position shot with just over seven minutes remaining until intermission before the Bears (8-7, 3-5) managed to get one past goalie Shannon Horn (6-6). Freshman Emma Ebert's 20th goal of the season pulled the visitors within two (3-1) at the break.

Manetta's second goal of the contest forged a 4-4 tie with 9:13 to play before Ursinus leading scorer Jayme Verman tallied the eventual game-winner at the four-minute mark.

A shot by Kim with under two minutes remaining went just wide and the Bears escaped with the road victory.

Ebert and Lindsey Grabell each finished with two goals for Ursinus. Sophomore Margaret Philbin (7-7) made four saves in the win.

Haverford closes out the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. against rival Swarthmore College. The team will honor seniors Megan Gallagher, Anne Cullen, Rosie Samide and Horn prior to the conference contest.
