Perry's Six Goals Ties Career High in Women's Lacrosse's Win

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Diana Perry tied her career high with six goals as the Haverford College women's lacrosse team defeated the Colorado College Tigers 16-7 at Washburn Field on Thursday afternoon.

Haverford's offense was ferocious in the early going, peppering the Colorado College goaltender with 12 consecutive shots in the first 17 minutes of the game, jumping in front by a 4-0 score. The home team scored two straight goals to cut its deficit in half at the 12:16 mark, but that's as close as the score would get. The Fords ended the half on a 4-1 scoring push to go into halftime with a 9-3 advantage. They took 19 shots in the first stanza with Perry (three goals) and freshman Molly Lausten (two goals) leading the way.

Head coach Lauren Wray's squad continued its offensive firepower with the first four goals of the second half to stretch its lead to 13-3 with 23:14 to go in the contest. After the Tigers registered back-to-back goals, the Fords scored three straight to lead by its largest margin of the game at 11 (16-5). Haverford had seven goals in the final 30 minutes of game action en route to its victory.

Eight different Fords tallied goals in the contest. Perry's six goals gives her 16 on the season which places her in a tie for fourth in the Centennial Conference. It's the second time in the senior's career in which she scored six times in a game. Lausten also set career marks in goals (three) and assists (two). Senior Dayna Kim had two goals and assist while junior Elyse Adler secured a goal and two assists in the win.

The Fords created 17 turnovers, doubled up their opponent in ground balls (24-12) and outshot the Tigers 30-13.

With a 1-1 spring break trip, Haverford is now 4-2 overall while Colorado College falls to 3-3 on the year. The Fords will now head home and welcome No. 7 Amherst to Swan Field on Wednesday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
