Women's Lacrosse Outlasts Rowan, 15-13

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Senior Diana Perry continued her torrid scoring pace with six goals in the Haverford College women's lacrosse team's 15-13 victory over the Rowan University Profs at Coach Wackar Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The senior has 20 goals in her last four games and has recorded a goal in 10 straight contests dating back to last season. Perry's 30 goals for the year places her in a tie for third in the conference.

The Profs started the contest with three consecutive goals in the span of 26 seconds. FreshmanMolly Lausten got the Fords on the board at the 25:38 mark before Perry scored three consecutive times to put the visitors in front 4-3 with 16:26 remaining with in the first half.

Junior Elyse Adlerput Haverford up two, but Rowan scored two consecutive goals to tie the game for a second time at 5-5 as the clock ticked down under eight minutes. After both teams exchanged goals, Perry secured her fourth tally on a free position shot with just nine seconds to go to give the Fords a 7-6 lead heading into halftime.

Haverford recorded the first two goals of the second half, but Becca Wood kept Rowan within striking distance on a free position goal to set the score at 9-7 at the 25:59 juncture. The Fords went on a three goal spurt to push their lead to five with tallies from Lausten, Adler and sophomore Sarina Manetta. The Profs wouldn't go away as they answered with three straight goals to get back within two (12-10) with 12:55 left in the game.

With the Fords maintaining a 13-11 advantage, Perry and Lausten each deposited goals in the back of the net to further distance the visitors from Rowan. The Profs added two more goals with under two minutes to play, but couldn't get any closer.

Perry also led the team with six draw controls while picking up three ground balls. Lausten set a season high with four goals. Adler had her second career hat trick while Manetta pitched in two goals, two ground balls and two draw controls. Junior Megan Chenworth tied her career high with 11 saves in the win. Woods led the Profs with six goals while Erin Homer made 10 saves in the loss.

Head coach Lauren Wray's team improves to 6-3 on the season while Rowan drops to 2-3 overall. The Fords will now focus their energy on the Centennial Conference now that the non-conference portion of the season has finished. Haverford will travel to McDaniel on Saturday with the game time set for 1 p.m.
