PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Haverford College women's lacrosse team posted its third straight victory on Wednesday afternoon, taking down the Roanoke College Maroons by a final score of 12-8 at Franz Ross Park. The game was played as part of Haverford's Spring Break trip. Haverford pulls its record to 3-2 on the young season while Roanoke falls to 0-4 on the year.

Reigning Centennial Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week award winner Allie Gibbons netted four goals while Kate Sollee added a hat trick in the triumph. Sarina Manetta tallied four draw controls. Rachel Romens made 10 saves between the pipes in the contest.

Haverford scored the first five goals of the game, with Allie Gibbons again completing a natural hat-trick to cap the run and put Haverford up 5-0. The Maroons rallied back with consecutive goals from Courtney McCartin, but Kate Sollee tallied for a 6-2 Haverford lead. McCartin scored two more to cut it to a 6-4 lead at the half.

Sollee scored with 17:29 left in regulation to give Haverford a five-goal lead again at 9-4, but Hannah Taylor, Julia Galanto and Morgan Barlow scored for Roanoke to cap a 3-0 run that made the lead for Haverford just two again at 9-7 with 11:34 to play.

Gibbons scored her fourth to restore a three-goal cushion and Eliza Brosgol and Kate Sollee lit up the lamp with scores for a five-goal lead at 12-7 with just over five minutes to play.

Hannah Taylor converted a free-position at 4:17 to play, but the Fords were able to keep the Maroons off the board for the final four minutes and change to clinch a third-straight win.

Haverford met with Roanoke for just the third time in program history and the first time since 1989, when the Fords toppled the Maroons 13-9 at home. Haverford now holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series.

Haverford will wrap up the Florida trip with a practice before heading back to the Keystone State on Friday. The Fords will take on Eastern in St. Davids, Pa. on Wednesday, March 15 at 4:30 p.m. The home schedule resumes with the Centennial Conference opener against McDaniel on March 25.
