RADNOR, Pa. – The Haverford College women's lacrosse team took a 19-16 victory over host Cabrini at Edith Robb Dixon Field on the Cabrini campus on Saturday afternoon. Rina Rosnow led Haverford with five goals and Kate Sollee chipped in four. Molly Lausten added three, tallying her 100th career goal in the process. Rachel Romens picked up her second straight win in goal, making nine saves on the afternoon. Haverford improves to 3-1 on the young season while Cabrini falls to 1-3 in defeat.

The Fords started the contest with a strong showing in the attacking third. Rosnow completed a natural hat trick to give the Fords a 6-2 lead with a free-position shot with just 13:29 left in the first half. Lausten converted on a free-position attempt of her own to pull the lead to 7-2 and Haverford went ahead by as many as eight at 12-4 after Sarah Svetec converted a free-position with 6:10 to play in the first half.

Cabrini unleashed a methodical 9-0 run that included four straight goals from Avery Murphy. The Cavaliers pulled to within 12-9 at halftime and eventually took a 13-12 lead with 19:18 to play in regulation as Murphy converted a free-position opportunity. The Fords tied things back up at 13-13 with a tally from Rosnow, and the Fords then took advantage of a flurry of yellow cards on Cabrini in the second half, including an un-releasable penalty called against the Cavaliers.

Haveford tallied three-straight man-up goals to take a 16-13 lead. Sollee tallied twice and Olivia DiRienz added a goal in the stretch. Sollee scored at even strength for a four-goal lead at 17-13 with 9:08 remaining in regulation.

Murphy and Liz Hoeffner again converted a pair of goals, cutting the Haverford lead to just two at 17-15, but Belle McMahon scored a crucial tally for the Fords with 3:23 to play, restoring a three-goal advantage. Hoeffner took a feed from Murphy and scored with 1:21 to play, but Sollee responded by adding her fourth goal of the afternoon to bring the final difference to three goals at 19-16 in favor of the visitors.

Haverford had a well-rounded effort with eight players collecting multiple ground balls. Sarah Svetec led the way with four. Alyssa Sherman, Lausten, and Allie Gibbons each caused two turnovers while Anna Meyers and Svetec each controlled five draws. Maeve Gaffney won four as the Fords won the draw control battle 22-15. Gibbons tallied two goals and an assist to bring her career total to 100 career points.

Haverford avenged an overtime loss to Cabrini a season ago. The Fords will next embark on their Spring Break trip to Virginia, with games against Randolph-Macon (Tuesday, 7 p.m.) and Christopher Newport (Thursday, 4 p.m.) dotting next week's schedule in the Old Dominion.
