15 Assists Lead Women's Lacrosse Over Eastern, 21-5

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford Women's Lacrosse team downed visiting Eastern 21-5, in the final regular season non-conference contest of the season at Swan Field. The Fords received four goals each from Rina Rosnow and Molly Lausten to lead the charge offensively. Julia Manetta had six assists, tying a program record. Haverford's 15 helpers on the evening tied for the second-most in program history. The Fords are now 7-1 on the season while Eastern falls to 2-3 on the season. Haverford's 7-1 start is the the best mark through eight games since the 2010 squad began the season 8-0.

Haverford began the game on a 3-0 run, with Lausten, Sarah Svetec and Rosnow each converting in the first three minutes of the contest. Eastern grabbed one back at the 25:44 mark before the Fords unleashed a 5-0 run to take an 8-1 lead with 23:03 to play in the first half.

Sam Brennan tallied for Eastern with 20:50 to play, but Rosnow took an assist from Kate Sollee and tallied with 18:54 to play in the first half. Julie Haggan took a feed from MacKenzie Dix, scoring with 16:19 left to cut the lead to 9-3, but the Fords ended the half on a 7-0 run to take a commanding 16-3 lead into the halftime break. Belle McMahon scored with 13:53 left in the first half to trigger a running clock that would hold for the remainder of regulation. 

Manetta assisted on five of the final six goals of the first half, making her presence felt in the scoring zone time and time again.

Rosnow tallied with 25:49 left in the second and Lausten gave Haverford a 15-goal advantage with a goal with 20:25 to play. McMahon tallied her second of the contest in the half while Maeve Gaffney and Hailey Morris also got onto the tally sheet as the Fords set a new season-high in goals for the second straight contest.

Anna Meyers controlled six draw controls and scooped three ground balls. Gaffney, Noelle Smith, Lausten and Alyssa Sherman each had multiple caused turnovers.

Rachel Romens, the reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, played the first half in goal, stopping two shots while collecting a ground ball. Tatiana Lathion played the second half, making five saves and scooping a ground ball.

Haggan and Brennan each found the back of the net twice for the Eagles. Marcie Spencer performed valiantly in goal for Eastern, making 10 saves while facing 31 shots.

The Fords return to action on Saturday, March 31 with a highly anticipated matchup against No. 10 Franklin & Marshall. Opening draw is slated for noon at Swan Field and will be followed by the Haverford men taking on the Diplomats at approximately 3 p.m.
