Preseason Centennial poll sees women's soccer in 3rd place

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference released on Wednesday its 2013 preseason coaches poll for women's soccer and Haverford College -- the 2012 conference tournament champion -- sits in the No. 3 spot behind Johns Hopkins University and Gettysburg College.

The Fords accumulated one first-place vote and 81 points while Hopkins nabbed the remaining (10) first-place tallies to help the Blue Jays accrue 100 points. Gettysburg, with 85 points in the poll, slid in between the two teams that battled for the 2012 tournament crown last fall.

Swarthmore College garnered 72 points which slipped the Garnet into fourth place, with Muhlenberg College and Dickinson College coming in fifth, each with 63 points.

An NCAA tournament participant in 2012, Haverford returns one first-team all-conference player, in senior forward Meg Boyer, and one second-team all-league performer in senior defender Elizabeth Newman.
