ANNVILLE, Pa. - Mariah Baker scored the game-winner in the 79th minute to send the Haverford College women's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory over host Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday afternoon at Herbert Field.

Scoring her first of the season, Baker took a cross from Meg Boyer at the top of the box and the senior finished high over Dutchmen goalie Becca Sykes (4-3-2) to break a 1-1 tie. It was the first game-winning tally of Baker's career.

Connie Friedman came close to scoring her second of the day with three minutes to go in regulation but Sykes made her only save of the afternoon to keep it a one-goal game.

Lebanon Valley (4-3-2) had tied the contest in the 60th minute when freshman Sammy Bost sent a cross into the middle that Amanda Douglass fired past Robin Chernow (2-2-3) for her third of the season.

The Fords (2-2-3) had taken an early lead in the contest courtesy of Friedman's second of the season just five and a half minutes into play. Haverford only registered one shot on goal in the opening half but Friedman made it count as the junior found space in the middle and beat Sykes to the right side.

Chernow kept the Dutchmen off the board in the opening period with three first-half saves. The junior goalie made four total saves in the victory.

The two squads finished even in shots (nine) and corner opportunities (three).

Looking for their third consecutive victory, the Fords travel to Gettysburg College on Saturday for a Centennial Conference contest against the Bullets beginning at 1 p.m.
