Women's soccer nominated for NCAA Division III Special Olympics Spotlight Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Haverford College women's soccer team earned a spot in this month's NCAA Division III Special Olympics Spotlight Poll in recognition of its partnership with the Delaware County Special Olympics Chapter.

Hosting a clinic in August for 28 athletes, the Fords imparted their knowledge through several stations including dribbling, shooting and penalty kicks. The memorable experience finished with a period of scrimmaging.

Vote for the women's soccer team in October's poll by clicking here starting Oct. 3. The poll will close on Monday, Oct. 28 with the winner being recognized in the Division III Monthly Newsletter and on the Division III Special Olympics website while also earning $500 to use for its next Special Olympics event. The other Special Olympics partnership highlighted in this month's poll chronicles the efforts of the Wheaton College women's basketball team.

The NCAA encourages D-III student-athletes across the country to participate in existing Special Olympics events, create their own events, or otherwise serve to support Special Olympics organization.

The purpose of the NCAA's initiative is to improve the lives of Special Olympics athletes through their involvement with D-III student-athletes and to foster a mutual learning experience between Division III student-athletes and Special Olympics athletes.
