Women's Soccer Receiving Votes in National Poll

NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III National Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team caught the eye of the national raters with a 2-0 weekend during its own Kickoff Classic Tournament. Following wins over Arcadia and Scranton, the Fords are currently receiving votes in first National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III National Poll of the regular season.

The Fords (2-0) are one of five teams currently receiving votes that are sitting just outside of the top 25. Haverford is ranked the equivalent of No. 30 in the poll. The Fords got their season started with a 1-0 win over Arcadia with a goal from Connie Friedman in the 81st minute of the season opener. The Fords then took home their own tournament's championship with a 2-0 win over Scranton on Sunday. With a pair of shutouts for the week, Robin Chernow was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Haverford is one of two teams from the Centennial Conference to be ranked in the first poll of the regular season. Centennial Conference preseason favorite Johns Hopkins moved up one spot from its preseason ranking to No. 5 in this week's poll. Haverford was picked second in the preseason coaches' poll.

Women's soccer has just one contest to focus on this week as the Fords make their first road trip of the regular season to Stevenson on Saturday. That match will get underway at 3 p.m.
