Women's Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Haverford College women's soccer team, receiving votes in the latest national poll, earned a hard-fought draw against Stevenson University on the road Saturday afternoon. Despite playing 110 minutes after both the overtime sessions had been completed, neither side was able to crack the scoreboard.

Robin Chernow recorded her third straight shutout in as many tries this season as the Haverford defense faced 22 shots from Stevenson on the afternoon. The Fords' senior goalkeeper was called on to make saves on eight of those shots. With the shutout, the reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week continues to add to her program record for shutouts. Chernow now has 30.3 shutouts in her career. She has also gone 304:52 since allowing her last goal, dating back to last season.

The Stevenson offense was very balanced throughout the contest as it had nine shots in the first half, eight in the second, three in the first overtime and two in the second overtime. Chernow made seven of her eight saves on the afternoon during regulation.

For the Haverford offense, the Fords recorded four shots on the afternoon. The Fords put two of those shots on net as Stevenson's Tiffany McKee came up with a pair of saves in her 65 minutes in goal. Bre Springer played the final 45 minutes in net and was not called on to make any saves.

The Fords got a team-high two shots from Larisa Antonisse. She recorded one of the Fords' two shots on goal in the 29th minute. Jo Haller also put a shot on goal for the Fords at the end of the first overtime as she fired a direct kick on goal from outside of the 18. Skyler Ellenburg also recorded a shot in the contest for Haverford.

Women's soccer will return to Walton Field next Saturday as it takes on DeSales. That match will get underway at 1 p.m. That contest will also be the final tune-up before the squad's first Centennial Conference match of the year at Dickinson the following week.
