Chernow Earns Second Straight Defensive Player of the Week Honor

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Robin Chernow has once again been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by conference officials. Chernow earns her second straight weekly honor after recording her third straight shutout. Her most recent effort came in a scoreless draw at Stevenson on Saturday.

The Fords' senior goalkeeper played the full 110 minutes in net for Haverford on Saturday. She was called on to make eight saves during that time. With her third shutout in as many games this season, Chernow has not allowed a goal in her last 304:52 of playing time, dating back to the NCAA Tournament last season. She has now made 19 saves this season with her eight stops last week being a new season high.

Chernow's 19 saves on the season currently lead the Centennial Conference. She is one of four goalkeepers in the conference that has not allowed a goal, but has played 110 more minutes than any of the other three that have not conceded a goal. Her three shutouts are also the most of any goalie in the conference. Chernow is the school's career record holder in wins (38), shutouts (30.3), and goals against average (0.72).

Women's soccer (2-0-1) will return home this Saturday for a 1 p.m. game against DeSales on Walton Field. That contest will be the final match before the team's first Centennial Conference date on September 20 at Dickinson.
