Women's Soccer Tops Moravian, 2-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team notched its fifth shutout of the season on Wednesday evening against Moravian, 2-0. The Fords (4-2-2) got a goal in each half to come away victorious in their final non-conference match of the season.

Connie Friedman scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season to open the scoring for Haverford just over 26 minutes into the contest. After having her initial shot blocked by the defense, Friedman stuck with the play and regained possession 10 yards in front of the goal. From there, she finished to the far post, putting her team up 1-0. Kendall Logan was credited with her second assist of the season on the play.

After setting up the first goal, Logan scored her first career goal for the insurance tally in the second half. Her goal came off a pass from Phoebe Miller. Taking that feed, Logan found space at the top of the 18 and beat the goalie to the right side of the net. Miller was credited with her first assist of the season as she has now recorded a point in each of the Fords' last two contests.

Haverford controlled the flow of the game, outshooting Moravian by a 17-7 margin over the 90 minutes. Friedman and Miller each finished with four shots to pace the Haverford offense. The Fords put 10 of their 17 shots on frame throughout the contest, while Moravian tested Haverford goalie Robin Chernow twice on the evening.

Chernow turned away both of those shots to record her fifth shutout of the season and move into 12th place in the single season record books for shutouts in one year. She also has three of the top five single season shutout totals in Fords' history from her first three seasons. Her 32.3 shutouts in her career are eight more than her closest peer.

Women's soccer now turns its attentional solely to Centennial Conference play as nine conference meetings await throughout the remainder of the regular season. The Centennial Conference stretch begins this Saturday with Gettysburg at 1 p.m.
