HAVERFORD, Pa. – Another strong showing on Tuesday resulted in the Haverford College women's soccer team winning its third straight game by a 2-0 score. The latest win came against Eastern as the Fords (3-1) got goals from Hannah Krapes and Leanne Ludwick in the opening half to secure the victory.

Krapes' goal in the 17th minute was the first game-winning tally of the sophomore's career. Ludwick, a freshman, tallied the first goal of her Haverford career in the 33rd minute to provide the extra cushion in the final score.

The Fords controlled the pace of the game for much of the match as they racked up a 23-4 advantage in shots. This included a 14-2 advantage over the final 45 minutes that saw Kendra Griesman rattle the crossbar three times in just over five minutes. Katie Safter also hit the post in the opening half to deny another potential scoring chance.

Kathy Prescott played the first 79:22 of game action and made one save before Ali Weiner came on to finish the combined shutout effort. Eastern's Adrianna Rowlands made four saves in the first half before giving way to Leah Lozzi at the break. Lozzi made six saves in the second half.

Haverford applied the pressure early on Tuesday and broke through on its fourth shot attempt of the game. The first goal was set up following a run to end line from Anna Dekle. The Fords' junior forward then crossed the ball into the box where Krapes was there to finish. Rowlands initially thought she had made the save for Eastern but the officials ruled that the ball did in fact cross the line for the 1-0 advantage.

Head coach Jamie Schneck went to her bench in the 28th minute with a number of subs and that move paid off as two of her entrants connected on the game's second goal. Looking for her first career goal just over a minute after watching her first shot get saved, Ludwick took a pass at the top of the 18 from Skyler Ellenburg and finished in the upper 90.

The game's final goal came just over four minutes after both Ludwick and Ellenburg entered the game as subs. Both Ellenburg and Ludwick, along with the earlier assist from Dekle, are now leading the team with three points each. A total of 10 different players have a point for the Fords in the three Haverford wins.

The second half featured even more pressure on Eastern's defense, but some unlucky shots off the crossbar kept the Fords from adding on. Dekle, Griesman, Krapes, and Ludwick each finished with a team-high four shots during the victory.

Women's soccer will now put its three-game winning streak on the line this weekend as the team travels to Dickinson for a 4 p.m. showdown with the Red Devils to start Centennial Conference play.
