HAVERFORD, Pa. – On a rain-soaked day to start the regular season, No. 20 Arcadia was able to slip past the Haverford College women's soccer team by a 2-1 score on Walton Field. First year Saede Eifrig scored in the 82nd minute to bring the Fords back within a single goal but they were unable to find the equalizer over the final eight-plus minutes of game action.

With the win, Arcadia (1-0) will advance to the championship game of the Haverford College Kick Off Classic where they will face No. 12 The College of the New Jersey. TCNJ defeated York (Pa.) by a 3-0 score. Haverford (0-1) will play York (Pa.) in the consolation game which is scheduled to get underway Sunday at 4 p.m.

The two sides were each held scoreless through the first 45 minutes of game action. However, the Fords did get four saves from Julie Hanss during that time while her defense also cleared a ball off the back line in the opening minutes of the game.

Arcadia got on the board first when the Knights were awarded a penalty kick with just over three minutes into the second half. Jess Kelly put home that chance to make it 1-0 and followed that up with her second goal of the game during the 63rd minute of play.

Haverford brought the game back to within a single goal when Eifrig collected a loose ball near the top of the six and was able to get around the defense for her first career tally which came on her first career shot.

The Fords' goal was the final recorded shot of the game for Haverford despite heavy attacking pressure in the closing minutes. Arcadia finished the afternoon with a 13-7 advantage in shots. Hanss finished her first career start in goal with a match-high five saves. Haverford's offense came from a variety of directions as six different players had a shot during regulation. Sydney West was the only Haverford player to record two shots for the contest.
