HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team knocked on the doorstep of St. Mary's (Md.) goal all afternoon Saturday. The Fords (2-2-1) were finally rewarded for their efforts in the 86th minute of play when Kendall Logan got on the end of a pass from Grace Mathis to put home the match's only goal with 5:31 left in regulation time for what turned out to be a 1-0 win over the visiting Seahawks (0-4-2).

The Fords held a massive shots advantage with 11 attempts during each half while only conceding six looks at the goal all afternoon. It took until the 21st shot of the afternoon for the Fords to crack St. Mary's goalie Sydney Larkin, who finished the contest with seven saves. On that game-winning goal, Mathis dribbled to the end line and was able to create just enough space to sneak a pass through to Logan who was waiting inside the six.

Logan, who entered the game as a sub just 50 seconds prior, volleyed home that chance for her first goal of the season. The senior now has four goals in her career, but today's was the first game-winning tally of her Haverford career. Mathis' assist was the first during her time with the Fords.

That goal was more than enough offense for the Fords as the team's defense allowed just one shot to get through to Julie Hanss. Hanss recorded her second shutout of the season by stopping the Seahawks only shot on goal during the 16th minute of game action.

Nine different players recorded a shot in the offensive barrage for the Fords. Six of those players had multiple chances as Sydney West totaled a team-high five shots on the afternoon. Logan's goal came on her only shot of the afternoon. In addition to the shots advantage, the Fords had five corner kick opportunities and only conceded one of those chances.

Women's soccer will be back on Walton Field next Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. start against Muhlenberg which will mark the beginning of Centennial Conference play for the Fords. Haverford will also be on the road against Franklin & Marshall next Saturday for a 3 p.m. start.
