COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team picked up another point in the Centennial Conference standings with a scoreless draw at Ursinus on Wednesday evening. The Fords (5-3-2, 2-1-1 CC) nearly doubled up the host Bears with a 13-7 advantage in shots on the evening.

Haverford had plenty of chances in the opening half. Highlighting the offensive opportunities in a half where Haverford held a 7-2 edge in shots were a pair of chances during which Ursinus needed a team defensive save to keep the ball out of the net. The first of those sequences came in the 32nd minute when Sydney West had the goalie beat only to see the Bears clear the ball off of the end line.

Just over four minutes later, Grace Mathis, who finished with a game-high four shots, watched her shot ring off the crossbar and onto the foot of Leanne Ludwick. Once again, the Ursinus back line was in perfect position to thwart what appeared to be a sure fire goal to get the Fords on the board first.

The Bears had a 5-2 advantage in shots during the second half of regulation, but only put two of those attempts on goal, both of which were easily handled by Julie Hanss. When the game headed into overtime, Haverford regained its momentum with the only three shots of the two extra sessions. Mathis and Anna Dekle each had shots on goal stopped in the first overtime frame.

The Fords also had a 9-1 advantage in corner kick attempts on Wednesday. A corner would be the team's final shot at the game-winning goal. West got on the end of a corner kick that was inserted by Isabella Gross, but Ursinus keeper Sabrina Doherty was there for her fifth and final save of the evening as the clock had just gone under one minute to play.

Women's soccer is currently holding the fifth spot in the Centennial Conference standings through four matches. The Fords will travel to fourth-place Gettysburg this Saturday in what will also be a rematch of last year's Centennial Conference Tournament First Round match. This weekend's contest is set for a 4 p.m. start.
